we need visionaries than mere executives
by Dillip Kumar Das on Sep 05, 2005 05:35 PM   Permalink

I agree with the philosophy of Mr. Azim Premji about drivers of development of a nation. His critical assessment of five key areas of concern, which are prime necessity for any countrys development are also very true and needs attention on priority. It is a fact that in India we have very high valued philosophies of development and efforts are made to build the nation based on those philosophies. Yet we find many a times these philosophies had not yield the desired result. It is not that there is anything wrong with the philosophies; rather it is in the effort we are making. Probably we are trying in the wrong directions at a wrong time and realize later to amend or sometimes we just could not see it through with proper implementation. Here the question is who are responsible to implement these philosophies, and may be thats why we need visionaries like JRD or Mr. Premji who himself also became an icon to show the path. But they are very few to have at a point. We need to have those people at the helm of affirs who could see the process though till that achieve the objective than mere executives who run the show day to day basis without much focused attention and finally falter. Secondly it is also important to establish the means to achieve the end so that the system can function irrespective of individual incumbent. So the authors and thinkers are requested to search those methodologies than mere suggesting the philosophies.
