India's big little small problem
by labrea on Oct 14, 2005 08:04 PM   Permalink

In India only the "priviliged" class enjoy the fruits of liberalization - the overwhelming majority of the masses do not even figure in the picture - in every sphere of the socio-economic landscape. All this hype about the great Indian middleclass - just a hollow joke; the purchasing power of this middleclass is tiny even compared to thier counterparts in Indinesia, Malaysia and Thailand, never mind Taiwan or Korea. India Inc has done almost nothing to spur thier growth.
