Bangalore Roads
by Vivek Gupta on Jan 20, 2005 12:03 PM   Permalink

Don't know how much these articles and blogs help us on ground zero...but a thought is worthy of sharing...!!! Bangalore I believe was never ready for the wind change that IT brought about...it was always destined and planned to be a retired, pensioners retreat...!!! The grand projects government is talking about...wil soon fall flat on the face...cuz if you care to minutely examine the road conditions here....bangalore is not far behind Bombay in the quality (or the lack of it) of roads...!!! Some wise guy would contradict that Bombay is much worse when it comes to traffic plights...but the heart of the matter is that Bangalore traffic administration has to wake up...and put some fundamentals in place..if they have any hopes of saving the city from the dogs...
1. An effective public transport system must be the first priority on cards. In Mumbai...57% of al commuters rely on the BEST buses and the omnipresent "local" trains. A public transport system that can share part of the load would do Bangalore a whole lot of good. I'm waiting to see light at the end of Bangalore Metro tunnel.
