It is sad that Govt of India /Min of HRD is not doing enough to build this most valuable Brand of India.
We need to scale up IIT and build more IITs so that our aspiring youth can truly benefit by gaining easy access to study in IITs.
For this to happen, the biggest stumbling block is the Govt. Instead of being an enabler , Govt is acting as a disabler.
Only way is to give Full Autonomy to IIT in matters of Fee structure, sylabus, salaries to Faculty to be able to attract the best and the brightest out there. In U.S. , universities attract the top talent . Then only we can ensure quality of education.
Why impose restrictions on Fee structure when the men and women graduating get such handsome job offers once they graduate ? If at all we have to help the poor and needy students they should be given loans, and other scholarships from endowments administered seperately for this purpose rather than try to maintain an artificially low fee structure accross the board. Let politicians stay away from our educational institutions & stop politicising education policies & stiffle growth of our premier institutes .
