This article makes excellent mentoring stuff for budding leads, managers as well as old timers to reset their vision of how to become and groom good middle management team..
Excellent Stuff Venkatesh.. The point that it is time for a overhaul of curiculum @ B-Schools should be received by the schools and it should be more practice oriented. As is in the west, intake of experienced people for these courses should increase here so as to churn out more balanced managers at the end of the course.
Ofcourse this also has got something to do with the socio-economic system prevailing in India where people are not independent at that stage where they complete their pre-univ and are eligible for management education. The avenues for employment have been less historically unless one aquires professional qualification.
The situation though has changed dramatically now with the proliferation of BPOs and Call Centers where people are finding jobs even with a normal graduate degree.
This should encourage revamping the system so that prior experience becomes a important criteria for selection into Management/B-Schools.
