Odds are heavily staked against India
by ramaswamy shankar on Aug 25, 2007 10:02 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

If one looks at the last 60 years of independence and ponder over it there are some fact that emerge very clearly.First the linguistic, ethnic and caste diversities of Hindu Society played a big role in successful functioning of India as secular and democratic society. These diversities stopped the Hindu majority coming together as one and imposing itself on the society. The pan Indian nature of basic Hindu culture ensured that India as a society glued together very well. Secondly the inclusive and tolerant character of Hindu philosophy played a major part to this end.Last but not the least the galaxy of leaders with their wisdom helped to create a vision that could be shared by all irrespective of caste, religion, ethnic identities.

Why you unnessarilily mentioed " inclusive and Tolerant character" of Hindu philosopy. Bhai intellectuals like you shud keep reapting that India is united because Hindus are divided and so Hindus shud be divide to keep india united.

What a great theory!

I don't mean to say Hindus are divided or Hindus should be divided to keep India united. It is merely stating the fact that Hindu Society is not homogenous in character. This diversity of Hindu Society is mainly responsible for ideas like secularism getting ingrained in our society. These facts are undeniable.
