Five decisions that changed India
by SHYAMAL CHATTERJI on Aug 15, 2007 10:53 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

While agreeing with KS in general, I would add that Rajiv's decision on improving the communication network through computerisation has contributed a lot to the progress of India.

We must salute Rajiv and Sam Pitroda for their contribution in this area.

20 years down the line, we shall realise if construction of golden quadrangle also was a decision that affected the nation building in a significant way.

You are bang on target - the Nehru/Gandhi regimes before him shackled the fundamental entrepreneurial spirit of the Indians and gave us the most expensive steel and cement in the world. IT was discouraged because it "led to unemployment". Rajiv and his first team of professionals changed that.
