Appraisals- Are not always in conformity with your output. After racking your brains for better and more economical output- and being successful in your efforts, it is needless to say that you expect your increment to justify your inputs. In my case, the organisation Head, possibly, did not want to annoy my subordinates, with the result that I and they have been clssified in the same bracket. I have now come to believe that just doing your job better does not suffice. You need to blow your own trumpet louder than the ones who sit back comfortably in their A/C chambers and leave the innovation part to their Boss cocooned in their belief that the credit would ultimately be divided equally and they would get their share of it--again equally. In my case, I being the Production Head have to face the music, which is why I am more often found on the Production Floor to check the quality of output. My Managers probably are less interested and spend more time in moving around and gossiping with others-close to the power center. When pointed out they have a ready answer in " You are there on the floor so no point in interfering." But the moment an intricate job is done, they pass the word around in the same centers taking credit for it. What matters in our case is that either you hobnob with these guys who are comfortably close to the Boss and have his ears or get left out despite your efforts, integrity, ingenuity and innovations.
