Facts As Always

Well, here is the truth and especially rampant in IT. The article is well intended. But it does not work in India.

Presumptions:

1. The candiates are of very similar experiences.
2. Both candiates are considered to be more or less of same caliber.

A Tamil will always promte a Tamil, so also a Punjabi, a Telugu, a Bengali, a Marathi. I have been over 5 yrs in North and over 5 yrs in South. But I find the bias is rampant in South (at the same time North is no saint - but less evil in this respect)

There are expeptions, like if you are an incredible performer and the work you do can be by very FEW. This is in Product companies based in foreign - but there you have individual performer role and actually management is some GORA. And you know how much they scuk. Management by Indians is literally non-existent.

In IT services or Indian IT prdoduct company, never ever think that you will be promoted as manager for your performance. Never ever think that you will be promoted over another peer who speaks the native tongue of the supervisor. The language divison rules. And hence the attrition (other reason being salary hike).

So, why they do it?

They feel comfortable. Of course, native tongue is most comfortable one.

Now will learn all the langauges in India. (15 or 18 or 20 or more??) Good lord. It is difficult to completely master even "C" language in 9/10 years, forget learning 20 languages.

So, what are the options.

1. Quit and you have another offer in another company as a manager (and that time it is fine). The current peer (who is promoted will not leave and he will false promises, believe me). The person who gets promoted will leave. (there are 2 kinds of them in a company - 1. loyalty because you know and love the company 2. loyalty because you do not know much.). And the fact the 2nd category gets promoted!!

And how come you are able to get an offer in other company as a manager if there is regional bias?

Same case also happened there and hence there is attrition. Or more likely that they are expanding and your skillset is highly desired.

2. Better, start thinking of your company. The whole IT services business can be done by anyone. And CMMi5 level, even my next door HR recruiting company is CMMi4 level!!

3. Do nothing. Leave peacefully. As withing years IT outsourcing is going to die.

You will not see Infosys, Wipro, TCS ... Wipro has already started recruiting BSc, 12th standard and so also TCS.

If you are techinally good, no matter what you will get a job.

Bide your time peacefully, prepare for something else.

Bottomline it is a naukri anyone (being a naukar of someone = servant)

I am not sure of others. But Tamils are pretty advanced in this respect.

What I do not understand is they have insulated Chennai and TN from everyone. But they have infiltrated Blore, Hyd. Reason being 3rd class engg. colleges, who have infested the IT.

In Chennai, a 2 building engg. college is next to a drainage pipeline (smells like hlel). (near St Thomas mount). Can you belive it?

More unbelievable is Wipro recruited 70 people for there (credible report). And Wipro recruits far less from other reputed engg. colleges. Well, they may not get a slot. But can you believe of taking enggineering students near Latrine. Another one is at Mamblam. Do not how many from there got place at Infy or Wipro.

the one next to st.thomas mount is not a engineering collage, its study center for amie. Amie is the only engineering deg a poor can affrord (though its very tough to pass). And remember people carry education with them and no one carry the drainage smell in their heads
