Women's Day
by meera bhen on Mar 03, 2008 05:05 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

International Women's day is a day for bringing together and bonding of all those empowered women in the world who have taken upon themselves to act as a catalyst and be the voice of the marginalised and the voice less women who also exists along side.On an indiviual basis the problems of all such women is dealt with on day to day basis, by the socially conscious women but on International Women's Day declared by the UNO , all social activists /Members of the civil society and the Govt./political units, unite and in unison raise the voice of the voiceless, highlight and bring to fore the fundemental issues like poor education ,health ,child marriage, widow torture and others that afflict women majorly in rural areas and other marinalised and deprived sections of the women community living in urban slums besides ofcourse raising voice against the universal curses like dowry ,wife beating etc.

At a macro level issues like equality in jobs/job place and fair representation in elected bodies are some other issues that need to be and are highlighted and battled for in unison not merely in India but through out the world.

International women's day is not about self but about the fifty percent of the population that have been facing major inquality and indiscrimination in the scheme of things from time immemorial.

Dear Ms. Meeraji

Kindly note that, is anybody preventing women to contest an election? No

IF RESERVATION GIVEN FOR 33%, WHY WOMEN ONLY FIGHT EACH OTHER, WHEREAS MORE THAN 50% ARE DOMINATED BY MEN, IF ONE WOMEN CONTEST, WHY NOT OTEHRS GIVE WAY FOR ONE GIRL, MOREOVER, WOMEN ISSUE ALONE CANNOT GIVE WINNING.

NOTE THAT SONIA, JAYALALITHA, MAYAWATHI, MAMTA, UMA BHARATI ARE NOT COMING THORUGH RESERVATION, THEY STRUGGLED LOT, IF THESE WOMEN ARE REALLY THINK LET THESE WOMEN HEADED PARTIES GIVE TICKET TO WOMEN (ATLEAST 33%)

Congress party will never allow women to have equality. They keep talking about equality to use women as vote banks.
BJP govt has proposed 33% reservation to women two times in their tenure but congress said no. Now again congress govt is in power but they did not introduce this bill even once.

Women have undergone ultold suffereing during congress rule and their abusive laws.
