I think we are overreacting here in any case. First, the problem of drunken driving is not a problem of the 'youth', affecting as it does almost all age groups who drive in our country. Secondly, it is not about the rich, as they may get the media coverage, but account for a pretty low proportion of fatal accidents. Across the world, including developed countries, it's a well documented issue with varying scales of fatalities. The problem we have in India is that the menace of drunken driving gets compounded by poor driving conditions, lack of quick medical response for the injured, and the usual lack of strong enough or enforceable judicial system.
