Ragging
by Gopal Chaphekar on Jun 21, 2008 03:20 PM   Permalink

Were you ragged when you first joined college? What did it involve?
Yes I was ragged when I joined IT Mumbai in 1975 as MTech student
It involved insulting me

Was the teasing in the spirit of fun or did it prove to be an awful experience?
It proved to be awful Even today after 33 yr I can not forget the disrespect and insult to me

It was behavior of haves
Do you think that ragging as a form of initiation/interaction between senior and junior students needs to be done away with altogether? Or do you think mild forms of teasing are harmless enough?
This is a wrong question, Ragging is banned under indian law Anybody supporting it should be booked for crime
I remember the the notice in capital letters in IIT Mumbai
RAGGING IS AN OFFENCE UNDER EMERGENCY
I also remember coward faces of those who indulged in crime after this notice
I suggest the following IIT Mumbai is celebrating its golden jubillee All IITins who indulged in supported etc etc should apologise to them who were ragged This purification of soul is necessary before they start celebrations for golden jubilee
LEST THEY ARE ALL PERSONS WHOSE ANIMATE INSTINCTS HAVE NOT BEEN SUBLIMED BY EDUCATION
