guys, i think where we make mistake is being too greedyyyy greedy is a good trerm but we go steps beyond. we dont sell when we think a scrip has reached it price. we wait wait n wait but FIIs DO NOT
about mutual funds. most fo them use a balnced fund. so mutual funds strat dumping money only when the valuation look cheap enough. when FII be net buyers for long you would see donestic mutual funds sell. i thnk mutual funds are a good take provided we chec thei historical data and out money on the right fund and go long...

If anyone guarantees doubling in 2 years he is bluffing. If you want to invest in shares invest in company that have strong fundamentals , growth prospects in the coming years at a low price and stay invested for next 3 -5 years and cash out partially to get back principal and let the profits continue to trade for risk free profits. works best.

I am no agent for MF or Shares but I agree with Mr.Vadgama that it is possible to double your money in MF in 2 years. I have done it myself. A simple case: I Invested in Birla Top 100 fund (growth) in Dec 2006 at Rs.10/unit ..it is Rs.20.00 today. Is that good enough.. pls check for other such funds.
