I'm not sure if this is a good idea especially if you've known that person for a very long time. When you know someone so well, you tend to look at them as a sibling - someone with whom you grew up. In such a case, it'd be weird to even have thoughts of romance. Also, the element of surprise and excitement might not be there in case your spouse is your long-time best buddy.
