Ofcourse it does not financially affect the Finance Minister (or indeed any of the ministers, MPs, MLAs or the Babus). Personally, for the FM, it does not affect as he is also a successful lawer and so is his wife. With the complexity of the Laws, he will be well benefited professionally.
Ofcourse, the political price may be a different issue. But then, people do get carried away by slogans of free TV sets, Cheap Rice (may be not fit for consumption anyway), write off loans etc. So the Political price is something that can still be managed. It is therefore no wonder that the reactions are so slow and half-hearted. In any case, the Govt (specifically this UPA Govt) does not care much for the salaried class. This is pretty evident from the Budget proposals of the first 4 years of this Govt rule and specifically from the Budget for FY 2007-08.
