HI I believe that any course/degree wherein the student has put in maximum possible effort, despite all the adversities, will not face much problem when looking for jobs. It is not the course that matters, but how it how seriously it has been taken makes all the difference. In this context, it is imperative to mention that we understand that quality education at graduate and post-graduate level in India is limited to a very small number of Universities. It is even true for education at school level. In this scenario, the only solution is to arrange wonderful faculty and implement serious guidelines before registrating any university for any course. Also, we cannot blame the system if we are not putting in efforts to improve it. Can somebody tell me how many of the total number of highly-educated people opt for a teaching profession??? We need good faculty, and it can only be generated from people like us, who value education and understand what difference it can make!

IT field A student = average in academics can find a job in MNC at ease, starting salary 10 to 20ooo pm bcoz job openings high. Biotech field A student = above average in academics can find a job in pharma company after much difficulty, starting salary = 5000 or 6000 pm
why should a student should put maximum effort in getting 5000/6000Rs job if he gets a 10000/20000Rs job at ease?

Hi I agree with you that moneywise we are far behind the other professions.. But this has happened because of the MNC's, for example , they are paying a software engg. 50,000pm because for them this is much cheaper as compared to paying salaries to their people in the US. We are helpless and the only way out is keep fighting..or for better change ur profession. Everything depends on your priorities in life but definitely a better pay scale in Biotech. or life sciences will attract better students and the quality of research in India can be improved. This in turn will bring high paying jobs too. There was a stipend-hike 3 years ago from CSIR/UGC for PhDs in India from 5000 to 10,000 per month. We also hope that this will increase further to a reasonable amount.
