abolish reservations
by Anil Gulati on Jun 04, 2007 04:41 PM   Permalink

after independence of this country SC/ST reservations was made constitutionaly mandatory to the extent of 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST.After this sometimes back the Supreme Court of India suggested that there should be one time reservation but no politicians of this country had the courage to accept this great suggestion of Supreme Court.Had this sugession been accepted then this cancer of redervation would not have grown further. Then came the reservation of OBC in states, the result of Mandal Commision, to the extent of 27%.This was the time the Supreme Court suggested that the reservations should in no case exceed 50% because it was feared that reservations step by step may go upto even 100%.Flouting the Supreme Court Tamil Nadu government went to the extent of 69% reservation.I still wonder why other states have not folowed suit. Now the central government has passed OBC reservations in the central government educational institutions.Of and on we keep on hearing other type of reservations in one way or the other.Lately we are hearing about the Gurjars are demanding their their status from OBC to ST and this is being opposed by Meenas. In conclusion this reservations is a cancerous growth which has all the damaging effect on the politicians mind, the persons who are getting the reservations and worst of all dividing the societies in general and the country in particular. I wish and pray to the GOD this cancer of reservation is eradicated from this country soon.
