The current violent Gujjar agitation should be an eye opener for all right thinking Indians. Except politicians who are only interested in vote banks all others will not favour reservations. In recent times Arjun Singh has done a lot of damage to our prestigious higher institutes of learning. No reservations should exist except for the highly economically backward and that too, limited to a maximum of 20%. This is the best in the country's interest. Casteism is growing into greater divisive force because of reservations. Casteism will reduce and ultimately vanish, once all reservations are scrapped. Caste in marriage and family structure may continue, but will not harm public life. The need of the hour is to spread basic education on a war footing. Once all Indians have received a reasonable level of education, a number of problems will take care of themselves.
