There were 5 responses including mine. 3 are for reservation based on economic conditions, 1 for no reservation and 1 for time bound reservation. I think the same trend will be reflected on a bigger pole. More schools and colleges for studies at all levels and disciplines, economic support to the needy and shifting of preference to non-government jobs - will solve the problem in less than one generation i.e. about 20 years. Bur our politicians will not allow this to happen. Castes become irrelevant if the economic conditions and educational levels are high.

I agree with you Sampath. To be true, the only person who is utilising this reservation system is only "POliticians". It is neither reaching to the real SC/ST people. With my personal experience I am telling this, 3 seats out of the 6 seats that were reserved for SC/ST in our class were joined by non SC/ST's. And everyone knows that in our class. They used to get the scholorships also even without paying the fees. Actaully one of the 3 person's father is the MRO of our city.
These durty politicians are utilising this reservation system and it is useless to others. Only one way to remove the reservation system is to dilute it. Put each & every caste into the SC/ST/OBC so that there will be large competetion among themselves.
