Fake CVs
by KK A on Feb 20, 2007 12:18 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I am project manager in a reputed software firm and I have myself identified nearly 100 candidates with fake CVs. I have caught them during the process of technical interview. It is quite easy to spot these people.

Once I had to get 2 employees in my firm fired, since they joined the firm with fake CVs. I was routinely asking a few technical questions to these 2 people and to my astonishment found that these 2 people could not answer the most basic questions. It is then I grilled them and finally they confessed having faked their CVs. Immediately I brought to the notice of the HR and they had to terminate these 2 people.

It is better to be honest and present the facts.

I agree. It is easy to catch. I also have caught some people during the time of technical interview also. With experience in conducting interviews, you can easily catch these people.

most humbly requesting you not to blame Bihar or UP without any data. I have heard most (not seen) the same even in visa application from some state. My experience is slightly different and found that those who are claiming fake are able to answer stuffs more diligently and while those who have actually worked only know the modue specific basic operaional aspects and miss the bigger picture.

In my experience, I have seen most fake CVs from people originating from UP, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, a few from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Harayana. The percentage of people those I have come across who have faked are more from Andhra Pradesh, UP and Bihar. On the other side, I have the most intelligent people working in my company are from these states. My company's CTO is from Andhra. There are 3 senior managers where 1 is from UP and other 2 from Bihar.
What I have also found is that those who fake are able to answer much better than those who have worked and such people have good communication skills which they use it to hide the fact that they are faking CVs. There are some bumb people who fake their CVs and also get caught easily during interviews.

I accept you. For hardworking people, its difficult to answer all questions because in real time experience, there will be many projects to handle. But in CVs they happen to hide some projects because of their size and time. People happen to show only the bigger projects just like people who fake the CVs. Actual hardworking people's concentration would have gone beyond those projects which are just shown in CVs.
