I would say practical knowledge is ahead from having degrees. practical knowledge includes almost every kind of consequences which can occur while handling a situation.
practical experience give you more tactics of handling a situation, example you can manage a team if you have experience, you can manage it more efficiently if you have more experience.
with a degree teams are not managed, but yes they allow you to understand the direction.
