Brinda may be a good fitness instructor. But she is ignorant of the medical side of his Hypertension. Rajesh has mild hypertension which means > 120/80 but less than 140/90 WITHOUT medication (BETA BLOCKERS). IF HE USES ANY HEAVY WEIGHTS OR GYM EQUIPMENT His heart will be under stress and his Blood pressure will rise.ASK any other doctor if you don't trust me. A STRICT NO for GYM EXERCISES of power weights or resistance types

The best exercises for HYPERTENSIVE + Overweight patients are in ranking:

1st best: SWIMMING (for youngsters below 40 yrs)
2nd best : Brisk walking for 30 mins daily
3rd best : YOGA for reducing stress and enhancing flexibility.

Your best bet Rajesh is to reduce your oil + sodium/ potassium intakes drastically. Go for a Thyroid profile and take oral hormones if necessary (Consult your internist first.Every thing else what brindsa said is correct But dont use any gym equipment for heavens sake. Ur BP will sky rocket Take it from a person who has experienced that himself.
