You have wrongly calculated the Target heart rate. How come you can make grave maistake like this. The target heart rate is (220-age)x70%. You needn't add again your Normal pulse rate on this.

Right another way (tehse are all estimates) is to use target1=restHR+0.70x(maxHR-restHR) OR target2=0.70xmaxHR obviously both will be different, target 1 will be higher by about 20bpm. How could she be so irresponsible to post NOT only a wrong formula BUT use it to get a meaningless answer (which shdve led her to question the formula in the first place)

whatever may be the method of calculation for heart rate, I know one thing, Pranayam & Yoga can do miracles; no need of any counting or calculation please do pranayam especially kapalbhathi and anulom vilom in a normal speed for half an hour daily; you can overcome your heart problem, hyper tension, diabetes, aastha and what not. Why to go for treadmills and other sophisticated machines in the gym. Only recently, one heart patient collapsed on treadmill in a gym in Mumbai. Wife of an ex-chief minister of gujarat electrcuted while doing her routine exercises on machines in her gym. If you go for pranayam and yoga there is no chances of such fatal attacks any way. Experience is the real guru. It is my experience... God bless you all readers;;; Unnikrishnan

Acuthan is correct , In the fitness center if you enter your weight and age the instrument itself will calculate heart rate which will come around 140 - 150. Don\\\'t go with the calculation mentioned.
Also if you are with hypothyroidism you should take medicine like eltroxin or levo-thyroxine.(which i am taking now.)
I was also person like you once with 98 kg weight. Now I am 78 kg.I achieved this in one year.
My success formula : Daily excercise for 1 hour which includes tread mill, cycling and strectch excercise.
Go for fat free milk , take care of serving size , Go for cereals for breakfast. Don\\\'t take snacks in between.
