Rashmi, you are simply too good! This is exactly what I was going through during my (post)12th. It really took a lot of time and self-effort from my side to overcome the fact that 'I couldn't make through IITs/IIMs even after 1+ attempts.' My heart was not able to sink in the fact that 'its not the end of the world.' I chose to excel in what I like and do and today I don't regret a cent.
Its a lesson from my own life and definitely not a case of 'sour grapes.'

It is very interesting to see how people reacted in such a volatile maner on pressing a touchy nerve. I was amazed to see all these responses that Rashmi evoked from the guys from various institutes. and BTW, analogies used by Rashmi are very good, you get married once (unless otherwise) and you go to an institute once, so stop whining about the anology made by her.
Guys especially, IITans who have responded, have an open mind for F@#k sake and let someone express their thoughts, don't kill these thoughts by those big self-centric egos that you are burdening your thoughts with. The Indian VP of microsoft in not an IITian instead from Anna university, and there are various companies where you will see a mix of different alumni. So don't let your egos lead you'll astray that students from other institutes do not do well..blah blah blah.....
I went through all the comments and they stink on nothing but ego in one form or the other. Leave them aside and try to be better humans and try and have an open mind.
