I have a Bose compact Speaker Home theater System supported by a Denon Amplifier. For the pocture I either use a Samcung Rear Projection 54" TV or Toshiba 1500 lumin projector fitted in my Bedroom 6.5 meter x 6 meter. You can set the distance of the speakers from the place you are watching, to get the proper sound effect. The experience is no less than a multiplex. I have stopped going to see a movie in the multiplex.
