We built our home theater system block by block over a period of three years. First I got a Panasonic music system with surround sound 4 speakers, 1 Dolby central speaker with VCD player which has Dolby digital sound , with 5.1 channel split provision. The later we got a Philips DVD player with 5.1 channel split outputs. Meanwhile we upgraded our WEGA TV to 29" from 21" as the prices had fallen. Lastly we got a Sony 12" midrange woofer with stand alone amplifier with frequency control, to complete the Home theater ensemble. Finally to check we got a Movie DVD with 5.1 channel split printed on the cover ( Dhoom). With 6 speakers working with channel split and if required also the WEGA's own roof-woofer, and wow ! The sound is heart stopping!! The pity is many movie DVDs do not have channel split and hence the user does not know he is not getting the best out of the system invested, venketaraman
