work-ex or MBA
by Rahul Anand on Jul 19, 2006 01:01 PM   Permalink

hi

This choice entirely depends on you. But some of the points that can be considered are:

- MBA without work-ex is possible perhaps only in India so if you want to pursue MBA outside u must have work-ex

- work ex gives u an insight into the corporate world and its procedures and work enviro. It not only adds to your personality but also to your ability and knowledge. you develop an additional skill set apart from those acquired at the university.

- work-ex gives u a chance for being considered for lateral offers. whereas if u r a fresh grad u will probably be offered the job of a Mgmt Trainee

- preparing along with your job is tough whereas your best chance of cracking an exam like CAT is when u r a fresher.

- perhaps the most important aspect of work-ex is that it will help you focus your career and will give you a direction and a valid reason for your MBA whereas most of the time we join the MBA as a fresher coz of parental or peer pressure or coz of the fat pay checks.

i guess thats enuough .do the reality check on yourself and decide.

Best of Luck!!!!
