PKL. July 9,2006,Sunday SriPai's estimate about major BOPS and IT growth rates of Indian Multinationals are highly exalting , one hopes these are not pipe-dreams but based on realistic projections of growth trends in the fast growing IT sector. One doubts if these same is true in sectors like road-Building ,heavy manufacturing, hard-ware,Steel, Power and Petro-chemicals and refineries. We must realize the truth that there is always a slip between cup and the lip.Secondly,we must synergise our vast large army of unskilled work-force by crash training and Chains of ITIS &Polytechniques.Mr. Pai as a philanthropist and mentor of India's modernisers among other things also may find some way of addressing this kind of raising the value of Indian Labour by skill-formations and training Programmes, to sustain the high rate of India's Industrialization. sectors.
Why Infosys considers academic marks so important

Why infosys looks at academic marks so much, even for guys with 5 yrs experience in reputed companies. More so when different university has different benchmark for giving marks. I know personally in Calcutta university 5 yrs back, getting above 60% was a difficult task which is quite easy in other university.Mohandas Pai should know better that syllabus of most of the university are more inclined toward cramming, than analysis and understanding. Exams of our universities are like one day cricket match, where merit of a student depends on how he performs on that particular day. When we are still following the pattern of "answer 5 questions out of 10 in 200 words", does he sincerely think this system of exam will be the catalyst of a programmer?
