No comparison!
by Joe on Jul 17, 2006 10:33 AM   Permalink

Well, as many of you have pointed out there's absolutely no comparison between brand IIM and the ISB.The article sure looks like a marketing stunt for ISB.
I am studying in a US B school and have many friends studying in IIMs and the ISB.Because ISB draws in people with an average work experience of 4-5 years, I guess an average salary of 11 lac INR is no big deal.(Consider the fact that these figures are skewed. Most of the salaries fall in the range 7-10 lac INR).Most of the people who enter IIMs are fresh college passouts and everyone knows what they are paid.(avg 9-10 lac INR this year?)
There may be many good things(infrastructure, flexibility, faculty et al.) about ISB but it is yet to hit a good balance between being known as an international B school and a Indian B school that can compete with the IIM curriculum.Just having faculty from premier US/UK B schools doesn't make a school 'The premier B school'.
The fee ISB charges is way too high for the value it offers.Ask me the fee I am paying at one of the top 20 US B schools.;)It is very less compared to what I would have payed at ISB.I guess an MBA from IIMs or a good US/UK MBA is any day more valuable than ISB MBA.
