isurance is very important in US. especially now most of the schools have made it mandatory. some even insist ( or the better word is force) to accept and enroll the insurance which the university offers. although people are against it. Lot of students are protesting it. they have strict reservations about what kind of insurance they would accept. the bottomline is wait and see what kind of insurance the university recommends and if they give any lee way u can then buy a cheaper insurance.better not to end up having two insurances.
