Most appointments in the private sector is done through informal cost saving methods. When Private sector says that they are appointing competent people they are conveniently lying. If they say that they are going for efficiency, it selects the best one out of a limited number of of people. not necessarily the best one.

The unemployment rate amongst the SC is twice the same among upper class. This is mostly because they have no access to information. If all jobs are properly advertised by private sector, it would be beneficial to both, the Private sector, as it would have a larger choice and to unemployed as they would be able to apply for the job. When a dalit cannot approach this network at all, the question of he being selected for the job he is fit for does not arise.
In other countries, the policy of reservation has been adopted against the discrimination on the bases of caste, race, color, ethnicity, nation and social origin. Racial discrimination is rampant in UK despite a law, Roman catholic are targeted in Ireland by protestants and in Pakistan there is Punjabi discrimination against the Baluchis and the Sindhis.
