Clarification
by Ashita on Sep 22, 2005 07:38 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The iPod nono looks COOL and also the article was cool enough to
give insides into the ipod nano and related ipods. The only thing I
found difficult to understand is :

If Ipod Nano supports USB 2.0 then how come the transfer rate can be
less than the firewire port. USB 2.0 transfers data @480 mbps while
firewire400 transfers @ 400 mbps.

I think you need to correct the statement as it sends a wrong message
and specially when you mentioned it in the negatives of the product.

PS : Dont tell me that you were refering to the firewire 800 port as
none of the ipods charge thru the firewire800.

Hey rome was not built in a day, sounds cliched?...but hey i hope the makers of Ipod Nano are listening to u. Indeed a video player would add to its versatility!

USB 2.0 does not sustain 480 Mb/sec, it is more of an initial peak while
firewire (400 and 800) has sustained speeds of about 400 Mb/sec which
roughly translates into about 1 GB/min.
