Hi Prerna Raturi, this is perhaps the worst article I would have ever read speaking about biking. were you writing for the teenagers of Delhi schools who can buy jazzy bikes like anythin. Man, you should have taken more time to write this piece which could have been wonderful had you paid some attention. It is downright useless. There is no mention of the kind of bikes you must take to that place, the proper gear, just few mentions here and there dont do the job as you think they would. Dont try hard to prove people's misconception that women and biking dont go together. undertake one such trip and then do the piece. Kirit

Hey Kirit,
Not necessary: a) that a writer experience everything that s/he writes about. b) to conclude that the writer of this piece has not been on a biking trip to ladakh.
I do agree that lot more in terms of bikes/equipment/gear could have gone into the said piece, maybe that was not what the writer wanted to or was comissioned to do? An enthusiast or a novice can get tons of info and read travelogues on trekking/cycling/biking in ladakh; just google.
Meanwhile your standard comments and views on looking down at women and their achievments is par for the course. What else can we "normal" men do?
She has been to Leh. On a bike. The article was for beginners. There's only so much you can cover for something as vast and complicated and expansive as a trip to Leh on a bike. For those who are really keen will have to do a lot lot more spadework. After all, even Lonely Planets give you only so much info. Thanks for the criticism, though.
