Ladakh Ride on a motorcycle
by Amit Sule on Sep 06, 2007 06:23 PM   Permalink

I had done the Ladakh trip from Ambala to Leh, Nubra valley,Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri lake, Zhanskar Valley, Dras,Kargil,Srinagar,Jammu in June 2005 on a 32 year old Yezdi motorcycle(inherited from my father,a single owner motorcycle) with a group of 7 yezdi owners, the oldest byke being a 1956 Jawa model. What can I say of the place.I agree how much preparation you do to plan the ride would not be sufficient until you actually rode that distance. The high moment of the ride was the ride to Khardungla and the satisfaction of riding a vintage byke to the world's highest motorable road..a childhood dream realized...The difference one can see between Ladakh region, Zhanskar valley and Kashmir is a stark contrast between brown and green.Photographs won't give you the idea of how beautiful the place is nor any travel logs. You need to experience it to believe it.And when you experience it know feel if you are dreaming..You need to pinch yourself to actually believe it is true.
