The debate is everlasting one. I would like to take the job and growth prospects. Though it is believed that Mrketing guys go ahead earlier than finance guys, it is not a hard and fast rule. The growth opportunities as well as job prospects are more related to one's competencies and capabilities and that decides who'll get a good job and grow well.
Moreover, it is the market that makes the stream favorite. Now a days, with the growth of insurance sector and other finace related industries, finance guys are in demand. But that does not mean that marketing guys are not going to land anywhere. If the candidate is approproate he'll get the same treatment in any field.
