Veena,

I have been Involved in recruiting both senior and junior level IT staff for several years and would like to share some tips here, with respect to fresh candidates

Technical Interviews:

Keep your fundamentals strong. We do not ask very complex questions in the begining. We look for basics. We further look to see if you have understood the application of a concept, rather than the definition. For example, We could have asked for a definition of a friends function in C++, or a question like why do we need friends function or give a situation and see if you can apply the concept of a friends function. The difference is in the maturity of the Interview.

Further, we look for width. Just because you are an MCA does not mean we should not expect good understanding of networking technologies like Broadband etc. Some basic understanding of the current and emerging technologies would be very usefull.

Further, Career ceritifications help, but they have a context. If you have done a certification, but do not demonstrate an Understanding of the basics, this wont help. Due to lack of space, I would conclude here. Best wishes.
