sir I am a student who has recently passed 12th board I am willing to sit in CAT to check my capability I know that thereis cut throat competition in this exam But nothing is impossible in this world I studying hard for it I have a generous suggestion to the committe of CAT examiners to propogate the study material so that no candidate is in chaos about the material Special modal papers should be issued by them for the benifit of students. I think only guess work of certain association is not enough the career of youth rely on it & few more institutes like IIM should be opened by Govt. to overcome this competition.
hope my suggestion would be read waiting for reply thanking you yours sincerely Harpreet

i thought this forum was for discussing how to crack cat.. the question of whether cat is the best method of selection is irrelevant.. the iims are not going to change the policy which has worked well for them just because some aspirant is not comfortable with cat(remember the mmj episode?)..one of the reasons why cat is still kept as a selection method is the efficiency with which it eliminates people who wud not be able to survive in an iim.. all said and done, cat is an elimination process and it ensures that a person who's not in the 98 percentile(atleast) does not get thru to an iim( i'm sure that this is a reasonable percentile considering the number of seats available and the number of aspirants).. ur personality and EQ would/should definitely come into play once u are thru to the nxt stage..i don't think it's too much to ask a person to be proficient in 10th std math and english before going to a bschool..

My Dear Friend, Who told u that it is only the CAT score that matters for getting into an IIM ? Request u to go to any good coaching center near ur residence (if there are any )and check the facts . There are people with 99.7 and more percentile in CAT who eventualy fail to make it to an IIM.And once u r in, IIMs are not just about quant and number crunching but about lateral thinking and applying the theoretical knowledge in subjects as diverse as international geo-politics and indian social structure to practical world. so Mr . Jai, please get ur facts right before writing something just for the sake of it.At the same time, I also request Rediff.com to properly scrutinise messages for their content so that the aspiring students who already seem to see CAT as some kind of a monster(as it apperas from the message board), are not misguided further and the people who might not have even seen an IIM properly may be refrained from making such useless comments. Sorry for being rude .
