A couple of things to add on to the impressive article on BPO by Mr. Zia Sheikh.
One should always look at the existing Clients of the BPO center, rather than getting "excited" about the past client list. From my experience in BPO, I've seen at least 2 centers in India which went through very bad phases due to their inability to meet the service level requirements set by the Clients and lost business. The center was forced to get associated with very mediocre clients just for the sake of continuing the operations. One can find out the existing client, perhaps during the last round of interviews and evaluate with the help of a little bit of Primary / Secondary research.
One should also understand the future plans, in terms of its financial projections, about the BPO center. This again, being a sensitive aspect of any company and could not be easily found until the last stages of interview. There is no harm in probing about the projected P&L details for the next 3 years. Most of them would in fact, appreciate your maturity and long-term outlook.
Now, go ahead and start interviewing the Interview Board!!
