I cannot understand!!!
by >@nDy on Apr 01, 2007 04:01 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I cannot understand why our nation gets so furious after India loses.
There are always ups and downs in one's life and it's the same with our cricketers.
Why cannot we support them?? It is with this pressure that our nation puts on them can they not perform.
And every single sportsman has the right to market goods with his/her name. Why do we all always raise our voice against our cricketers coming in advertisements?? It is their right to earn money by marketing products.
Sportsmen abroad earn more than half of their annual earnings from endorsement deals.... then why not our cricketers???
We should learn to always support our heroes!!!

It is true that we should support but we never expected defeat against Bangladesh. all the srilankan,SAfrica and even Australian players paly superb even under pressure but our players the so called tigers bacome goats when then come under pressure.they can only perform in Advertisement where there are retakes while in cricket it is only one chance. I think the advertisments for cricketers should be banned and no one should buy what they advertise. Indian companies and MNCs like pepsi, coke sunfeast biscuits should not allow them to work for their products. Shamefull on Indian part..Lot of politics in Indian team and regionalism which pulls their legs each other and come under pressure...Thre shouold be any contract and money totally on the based on performance ...Rs per run, rs per wicket and catches with minimum fixed amount.jrmankad

Hello Mr. Sympathetic, let me put this very simply:

1. If handling pressure is an issue for the players, then perhaps, they ought to give up the game. No competitive sport is sans pressure. Handling pressure is part of the job of being international level players. They get good money for it as well. Next, you'll be asking for easy games so the players can look good.

2. Every individual has the right to make a living, and the players are making money. They're not poor. The issue is they're making way too much money that's resulting in pathetic performances, arrogance, selfishness and total lack of responsibility as indicated by their most recent performance. Big money has crept into this game since the early 90s. Bottom-line -India is yet to win a real International Tournament since 85/86. The only claim to fame for the fools you're supporting is this - they have won the NatWest Trophy. For that, they're worthy of 10-15 plus crores/year? I think not. Finally, regarding other sportsmen overseas who make money, I only ask this - do they have more to show for over the past 20 years than our dolts have? Think about it. We need cricketers not models who can just look good and talk the talk. We've had enough of those, we now need the ones that can walk the walk...

Indians are not angry at Team India for being kicked out of WC, but for the way they lost without any fight. All we are asking Team India is to give some fight and then loose. The way they lost against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is humiliating considering the fact we had such a strong batting order. We didnt even cross 200 runs against these teams. But one miraculous day we hit 413 runs against Bermuda. Why cant we loose with some dignity by fighting rather than give up the match from the first ball itself? Look at Sri Lanka against South Africa, they fought with a modest score of 205 runs. Team India lacks fighting spirit coz they dont want to fight. They are loosers from beginning.

What Sandeep is exactly what every Indian thinks now. Perhaps, we would have won against SL if the match was soon after the Bdesh match. A loss against BDesh instigated us to skyrocket against Bermuda but soon our spirits floored after the huge win and it is all the imbalance of players' state of minds that caused this shocking WC exit.
We definitely are far inferior in possessing mental strength compared to the Aus, NZ, SA.
Gosh....cannot wait till 2011. The hopes are buried now.
-Prashanth
