Come on India..
by prasoon chaudhary on Jan 10, 2008 12:58 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It was really a farce when on %u2018shilpa shetty racism issue%u2019 we cried with our full heart and now, same in case of Harbhajan. What about us? Are we not racist? Forget about Mahatma Gandhi, talk about today. A foreigner always termed as 'gora'(white). Isn't that racism based on skin color? Have anyone seen the plight of foreigner specially ladies? People keep commenting anything on them. Leave foreigners, south Indians are termed as 'kallu' and 'idli-dosa' in north, whereas, north Indians are termed as 'daal-roti' in south. People from mumbai termed as 'ghaatis' in rest of India. 'Sardars' are being joked every part of the country. 'Bihari' is an abuse, especially in Delhi-Mumbai. Want more? Write a topic on Rajinikanth/ Shahrukh/ Amitabh and see north-south mess. Write something on Ganguly/ Tendulkar/ Dravid, and see whole India jumping on each other.

Coming back to the match, it was really nice to see all TV channels gaining TRPs by playing with emotions of Indians, and terming this whole episode as question of national pride. But that doesn%u2019t alter the fact that all we needed is to middle the ball of an irregular bowler safely in last over with three wickets in hand, and we were unable to do that. Regarding %u2018Ponting%u2019s cry to refree%u2019, we can%u2019t point on him, because it was instruction to both sides to do so. Also, I am really surprised to know that Mr. Kumble agreed on %u2018captain%u2019s decision%u2019 on low-catches. Hope he doesn%u2019t do the same in future.

MR. CHAUDHARY VERY WELL SAID..
BUT I DISAGREE IN ONE MINOR POINT
WE ARE RACISTS NO DOUBT..BUT WE ARE UNITED AS A WHOLE
WE NEVER SAY ANYTHING BAD FOR FOREIGNERS
IF WE CALL THEM GORA THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DEMEAN THEM
ANOTHER POINT DOES OUR BEING A RACIST BE AN EXCUSE ENUFF FOR OUR NOT PROTESTING AGAINST WHAT BEHAVIOUR THEY HAVE METED OUT TO US?

Why not reply in same manner? Why showing aggression only in words, and not in performance? Why only talk fire-for-fire and not showing anything even near to fire? I am not against protesting, but giving fact that - we are not racist so we can't abuse others - as a proof, is utter nonsense. (it's being said in many tv channels)

No Mr Chaudhary, we are not racists. Our culture might be having many good things and many bad, but we are not at all racists. If you talk about jokes on Sardars, i can assure you it is not to demean them, it always shows the purity of character a Sardar has. Not only this all the examples you have mentioned are not racism, but they are for humor. Remembre there is a big difference between humor and racism. Every culture has such ways of amusing themselves. Racism is when we talk about a culture or race in a way to show them that they have lower status than us. Not only this as Australian team has shown, it is racism, when your words are better than mine. No matter, how many evidences are shown to you that you are wrong, but you insist that you are right because you are white and others are black. When we crack jokes, we don't say we are right. Give me one Indian who does not respect a Sardar, or a Maratha warrior, who does not respect Guru Govind Singhji or Shivaji Maharaj. So please don't call Indians racist. That's insulting to me and all the citizens of this country. As you should not call every Australian a racist, or every team menber of Australia a racisct. But yes Ponting, Buckoner, and others like them are racists.

Agreed but u do not seem to understand that men who middle it,were left in the muddle by umpires. How silly is that you miss this. Speaking of racism, try and understand that it shd not be on cricket field and oz did it every time... even if bajji did it y do u think, ponting ran to headmaster? because they were cry babies.... Indua did'nt loose but oz did not win either.

Agree about umpires. Umpires made sure that a win will be converted to draw for us, and our players made sure that a draw will be converted to loss!!

Well said. All this hue and cry would have much credibility if they only had stayed for a few balls more to save the match

That's all my point was. Obviously, we all know about umpiring decisions, it was wrong wrong and wrong!! But even than, we missed a chance to draw...and not due to umpires...

The issue is not what we are in India. The issue is what our player has been accused of in Australia.

You seem to have taken the arguments of CNN IBN to closely.

True, that there is not any proof of 'abuse', but even there is not any proof that bhajji didn't say that. It's all shown on TV that bhajji was saying something. But obviously, ban cannot be justified anyway without proof, and I agree with that.
