Dude, that was during the Australian tour, in Baroda, in INDIA! Harbhajan apologized to Symmonds in privacy, and the issue was resolved to their satisfaction, which means, the issue is CLOSED. Had Symmonds chosen to pursue this all the way to "justice", at that time, Harbhajan would have been out of the Australia tour by now. But that's water under the bridge, and the Sardar chooses to get into trouble all the time. Having said that, Indian teams for ages have borne the brunt of racist behavior, but have never so far been accused of racist behavior against West Indies, Bangladesh, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Why would they pick one black guy from Australia to humiliate?

Rishi, I am only responding to Prem Panicker's rant that Monkey is not a racial word and that his wife calls him one too. I only pointed instances that show that Monkey is indeed a racial slur and that Prem Panicker's argument was flawed.

Amar - The argument is not on whether Monkey is a racial slur or not. But has harbhajan said it? Nobody knows, infact sachin says Bhajji hasnt. So on what ground should Bhajji be punished?

Prem Panicker has written above that independent sources have told him that Harbhajan indeed called Symonds a Monkey.
Look, lets be fair and balanced. Harbhajan deserves punishment and I dont see why BCCI is shielding him.

Please read the report once again. Here is what is significant:
In Sydney, Symonds accused Bajji of using the same form of insult. Ponting took it to the umpires, who took it to the match referee. So far, we have no problems - and do note that if Bajji did in fact use that epithet, after he had been told by the player about its implications for him, and why it hurts, then Bajji deserves all the punishment prescribed by cricketing law, and none of us here have a problem with that.
The question is, did he?
There is no credible witness who actually heard Harbhajan actually say is in the Sydney test and you can not use the utteracne from the past (Baroda incident as reported).

Mr. Amar you better gather some facts before you make such statements. One should write thoughtfully and not just scrible like the way YOU SCRAP IN ORKUT. The law doesnt believe in independent sources of a third party but ONLY EVIDENCE.

Excuse me sir. Prem panicker has referred about the incident during 'Australian tour of India' happened few months back. During that time only, Bhajji called Symonds a Monkey. The question is whether he did the same during this Sydney test? or not.

Would calling him a deer or a rabbit be racism also? You seem to have done a PHD on racism.
