The 23-year-old scalped 15 wickets @ 33.26 to finish the highest wicket-taker for Punjab;
- This is not the kind of performance which would earn a test recall. Avg of 33 is poor in any format of cricket, we have bolers who avg. definitley not below avg. in first class.
If someone is looking for a spot in test team, let him get an avg below 25 over a period of time.

You have to also consider the pitches he gets the bowl with. They have no bounce, seam and are slow and dry . So the avg is not all that bad.

The pitches are same for all bowlers not just for VRV. If you have watched him bowl even in domestic season, he bowls atleast 1-2 boundary balls in an over. He also tends to bowl short and bowling this length at his speed (125-130kph) international batsmen cant get out. In 2005 VRV and Munaf were hailed as new pace sensations who could bowl 145kph consistently. What happened to that? Both failed to live upto the expectations miserably. On current form, compared to RP Singh, Ishant Sharma (both them improved significantly since their debut), VRV and Munaf stand no chance to be successful in international cricket.

even gavaskar criticised ishant when he was new, n discarded him as a talent tried too early. but ishant proved him wrong when he was put faith on.
