The innings debacle
by Jaganniwas Iyer on Apr 05, 2008 08:16 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I hope other visiting teams will emulate South Africa's example and heap humiliation on this bunch of hyped jokers and the BCCI. Cricket will gradually lose popularity and genuine national games like hockey may see a glimmer of hope of revival. Cricket is a national waste; India's biggest racket in which the BCCI, its players - self-declared heroes whose character is woefully exposed when then encounter quality opposition - Bollywood, the mafia, betting syndicates, politicians, and yes, the media, all have huge stakes. Don't be fooled by the odd win in places like Australia. Genuine sporting nations like Australia are good at EVERY sport they play - cricket, hockey, football, tennis, you name it. Indians have only proven that they can milk the game commercially. 5 Test wins on Aussie soil in 60 years tell the real story, all that hoopla about the Perth win and the 'historic' tri-series victory notwithstanding. By the way, how come each of India's wins is immediately eulogised as 'historic?' That's because there're so few of them in the first place! Truth be told, these so-called cricketing stars and superstars are little else than media-created 'heroes', each with his faithful band of hosanna-singers in the papers and idiot-box. Lack of ability to play genuine fast bowling on even a marginally sporting pitch has been the bane since 1932. No nation aspiring for a place in the global pecking order can afford this colossal waste of time, money and manhours.

U r correct. We play against good team and boast we are the best. Meanwhile our so called experts heap praise on these inconsistent fellows. And immediately against weak and not best teams we lose. Beating Aussies one or two tests cannot be rated as we are the best. Infact we win in a fluke as we don't have anything to lose against them. but with other teams our consistent weaknesses come out.

Seriously...India's win is termed historic only because 'India stopped Australia's record successive 17th win. Strange ! we boast of 1 win of ours against 16 consecutive win of others..India lost today because after the first tests hammering of SA ,our players might have got a call from Preity Zintas,Bipasha's,Katrina's and may be they all pub'd together in Bombay..hehe

well put! couldn't have said it any better. Like they said - hand them a featherbed and they score triple hundreds at will; give them an even wicket and they crumble like the losers they are.

Thanks..guys are listening and started using their bare intelligence to see through the fact sabout the fultility and waste of supporitng a game which to our shame can claim the most economically wasteful past time we ever had (except BCCI, Pepsi Coke and criketers). Fans have lost everuthing even their honour supporting a few good men (I admire you sachin's dravid's, kumble's) orchestratred by puppets and other dirty men in power and behind the scences..Stop this nonsense and make a collective effort to make cricket at best a fringe sport in India. I am one of the new generation and for me 2003 season was the end of support for this game..

Australian one day series was fixed as was T20 world championship. Aus series was fixed cos BCCI has big stakes in PCL, and T20 was fixed cos ICC knows highest viewerships (read as fools) is in India as hence the revenue. It was a bitter pill required after BCCI team go thrashed in world cup
