Keep things in context
by abhishek nair on Sep 25, 2007 02:17 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Can we keep this victory in context? It's just a game. Why is it everytime we beat Pakistan or another country, people on this board insult each other? Every issue has to be made into a Ganguly-Dravid issue, a North-South comparison, a Hindu-Muslim confrontation...I'm sick of this attitude. This is what holds us Indians back...our propensity to become emotional about the pettiest of issues.

We won a tournament. Great!

But that's it! We haven't figured out how to solve Kashmir. We haven't figured out how to feed, clothe and shelter millions of people. We haven't figured out how to clean up our politics.

Isn't it ironic that most of the very people who are cheering Dhoni and his team today are going to curse him and probably even threaten their families when push comes to shove and the Indian team makes the occasional slips?

What does that tell of us people? If the Indian cricket team isn't consistent, isn't that just as telling as the fact that Indian are not consistent.

Cricket champions play cricket religiously, but neither do they make it a religion nor do they need fanatic fans.

Agreed. And this is what the problem we have. We take this game more then anything in our lives. People should understand the priority and justify it accordigly...

Well, having said that we are also included in that bunch for hanging out here and surfing through this forum and stamping appropriate comments.. :))

Ohh well

I agree with you that we are not consistent with our actions and attitude...but give me one example of any one person from the whole globe whose all the actions are consistent and who thinks all the same round the whole year with no change of plans......ya we are guilty of our actions when we curse our team when they perform badly....but its all about the emotions of Indian's attached with the game which cannot really now be controlled...such a craze for this game have been passed from our ancestors and we are following that...
Take an example of World Cup Football tournament...the whole world goes even more crazy during that period and its all emotions and respect for the game...and its same for cricket in India...
So lets respect everybodys emotions rather than writing blogs which always curses our own people....life is always living that particular moment... so lets enjoy this moment which has made Indian's proud of its nation!!!
