Dhoni as ODI captain is a good gamble by BCCI. For quite sometime, Indian ODI team was presenting a stale picture. Same old style of play and same old theories for defeat and very similar score cards!! It very much needed a fresh air and new and dynamic thinking. Whether he succeeds or not, Dhoni will infuse some new thinking, unless the senior and adament players under him have their way.
Now that Dhoni is ODI captain, it is very much necessary to make somebody not in the ODI team to be the captain of the test team. Otherwise, if Dhoni has to manage a person in ODI team who happens to be his captain in Test team, all sorts of ego clashes happen, further pulling down the team and performance. It may lead to groupism again in the team. Given this scenario, either VVS or Kumble would be apt choice for Test captaincy. Sachin can lead test team if he quits ODIs now.

Abhijeet, wake and come to terms!! Ganguli will not be a captain again; if the roumors are to be believed, he himself opted out of captaincy during the last 2 weeks of speculation period. He was a very good captain agreed; but as Dravid said, every captain has a shelf time. It's time recognize that and move forward.
VVC or Kumble becoming test captain reduces tensions in ODI team where Dhoni doesn't have to manage his test-team captain.
FYI, a good bowler is not judged based on how many inches he turns the ball. Instead it is the number of wickets he takes. Kumble is the 3rd highest wicket taker in the world today. In the present crop only he has the mental aggression to match Aussies.

Abhijeet, SMS poll not necessarily reflects the mood of all cricket fans. If you watch 'Sa-Re-Ga-Ma' or the shows like that on TV, SMS-voting not necessarily selects the best singers. Countless number of times we have witnessed wrong choices driven by emotional factors. So, quoting NDTV poll is not the right way to back ones arguments. Ganguli's is a past golden era in Indian cricket. Just relish the memory and move on. No point on harping on past things and lose focu on the future.
