Monkey Taunts on Symonds
by LALIT ANAND on Oct 18, 2007 10:14 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Its a sad story and a shamful act that the talent of Symonds instead of being appreciated in a true gamesman spirit is being insulted by our honourable citizens by Monkey Taunts (attributing it unfortunately to racialism). If BCCI or any sports organisation is firm and strict in penalising the spectators of cities who tarnish the Image not only of Indian Citizens but of true value gamesmanship by indisciplined behaviour or by behaving in an unbecoming manner by insulting the talent of players, by banning International matches there for three to five years, the behaviour of the crowd may or could improve. We Indians should not indicate that we could improve upon such undesiable conduct or hooliganism by "Danda" only.

It is sad, but I think the media (Australian media to be specific) and Symonds made it a big issue. It would have been better if it was ignored when it happened for the first time. I don't it is a racist comment.....I wonder how many people knew earlier that Symonds is the only Non-white member of Australian squad? To be frank, I was not aware of this, he was just another player in the Australian team, who often scores too(ooooooo) many runs, regardless of the opposition.

Hey Ajesh, you speaking about the Australian media,if the same thing would have happened against one of our players, then I am damn sure the Indian media would have gone beserk about it.Why blame the Australian media for adding fuel to Fire,in my opinion they did the right thing.
