Racism is when someone is differentiated or demeaned on the basis of their race or colour. Example: When Indians were not allowed in places where the British frequented during the days of the Raj OR when a white man calls an Afro-caribbean man 'Black'.
I fail to understand as to how in the Symmonds' case the issue of racism even came up.
1. Monkey is an animal and NOT a race at all.
2. The skin colour of the average Indian is not significantly different from that of Symmonds.
There is no basis of racism here at all!! If this is racism then people who called Pataudi tiger are racists for calling a man tiger!!
The whole issue doesn't make any sense to me at all. It just sounds like a bit of Monkey business (oops! I'm being racist!!)
I still condemn making fun of someone's appearance.

I guess there is a new race by name Monkeys. And Symonds feels he belongs to it, so, when somebody does Monkey chants, they are termed as racist comments! :-)

Have you read the Ramayana? ever wondered who the monkeys in that were .... before making racist comments , think twice about what others think of you. The monkey abuse is the oldest racial abuse to denote that the other race is closer to monkeys than to humans.

Symonds is Carribean (biologically) British (born and adopted there) Australian (immigration) ..!
