Take a break, Dravid!
by K Chandru on Oct 15, 2007 11:20 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dravid on current form is unfit to bat even at No.11. His confidence is at its lowest ebb. It's reflected even in his fielding. He deserves a break now. I do not undermine his contribution to Indian cricket. But on current form, he doesn't deserve to be in the team. The team can not afford any more failures at that crucial position, especially when we play with 5 bowlers. Let us see what a Rohit Sharma / Dinesh Karthik / S. Badrinath can do at that position.

Again another selector here. Why the emphasis on selection as if you are the guru of team selection. None of us have even played the damn game at the highest level. What makes us think that we can judge if Dravid deserves a spot. Why not talk about what we need to do with say taking pressure off him. Why cant we talk about giving him some really well deserved boost. May be the guy is feeling low. Is there something we can do as fans to help him get back?

May be there is something we can say about how great the guy has been for India. Why do we want to be doing this "chew everything and spit it out" thing? The guy has been chewed out by the hysterical response of everyone.

If you put yourself in his shoes and look at it:

1. Dravid advocates bringing in young blood
2. Dravid advocates improving fielding standards
3. Dravid pushes for better fitness in players
4. Dravid pushes for treating players right irrespective of age.

His "old" team gets kicked out of the world cup because of some internal bickering. His "old" team wins in England in the tests and shows a lot of resilience in the one-dayers against a good english team.

He has to leave because of some internal games at the BCCI. Dhoni's team (instead of India's team), is young and wins the T-20 world cup. If you put yourself in his shoes, you will be feeling sorry for yourself. You had the vision that never worked for you and now you are back trying. Spare a thought and support the guy.

Think about team and not about any particular player. Tell BCCI send Dravid to a counselor

Mate, you have a way with words and presentation. Of course the content is great, but without the presentation most of the time it barely gets noticed. Hope to see a lot more from you.

What do you mean Jim? You want to retain a player on his past laurels? If you were a boss would you live with an erring employee who spoils the office atmosphere but, who had an excellent past? I have the highest regard for Dravid as a player. But on current form, he has become an eyesore, looks pathetic. Instead of putting him under pressure to score atleast a 30, 40 runs once giving a few more chances, won't it be apt to give him a refreshing break to relax, to work out on his game and to come back even stronger? Do you wish to give him another series to strike form? Instead, a break will do him a world of good. I never meant a Sachin or Saurav or Rahul is finished as such yet. Use them sparingly in turn, to guide the youngsters. I too played cricket; if not at the level you played, at a lesser level. In a forum like this, everyone has a right to opine. It's not mandatory that, it should be to your liking. Afterall, this forum is not owned by you.

Jimmy boy...you must be from south as you are biased supporter of Dravid

Statistics wise...your favorite Dravid has scored only 80 runs in last ten innings at an average of 8.00...Dravid really needs to be KICKED out from the team..NO QUESTION ...

Basides after all the politics he played with Greg & More , he hardly has any backing from the team...so let Dravid suffer and play Ranji trophy till he gets his form back...like Sehwag is doing currently
