I am not an avid cricket fan. I came to know of this "sledging" recently. Why can't laws be enacted to ban sleding, along the lines of "doping", "Ragging" and "Eve teasing".

yes. it shud b banned from ckt. no sports shud b played without sportsman spirit. sports is not a war and aggression need not necessarily b in words but b present in action

there is big money involved in the games and every one wants a piece of the pie by hook or crook !! Football is supposedly the worst game when it comes to words being exchanged and sledging in cricket is still considered to be in its infancy..
