Remember, Hockey is also a British Sport. It was our national game because we used to be so good at it. Also, there is something called Supply and demand. Hockey has neither demand, nor popularity nor the money.

First Hockey Admins will have to clean up their act.

I will tell you what happened to hockey! In 1976 Olympics astro turf was introduced for the first time. Our asian style hockey which relied on dribbling and small passes, simply couldn't adjust to the fast surface. We couldn't reach the finals that year (remember just one year back in 1975, we won the world championship). Since 1976, Indian hockey has been in decline. We lost so many times that people simply lost interest in the game! In 1982 Asiad (in front of Indira Gandhi) final we lost to Pak 6-1, with Nagy as goal keeper. He was blamed for that debacle, and called a Paki agent! His life story has been picturised in Chak-de-India with Shahrukh Khan playing his role! But hopefully things will improve now.
